What Can You Eat with Seafood Pickle?
A small amount of seafood pickle can be served with hot rice, curd rice, idli, dosa or chapati. Our Dry Fish Pickle and Maasi Thokku may also be served with kanji.
With Hot Rice
Hot white rice is the most common pairing for Prawn Pickle and Squid Pickle. Mix a small spoonful of the pickle directly into the rice, or serve it on the side with sambar or rasam rice to add a rich, spicy coastal flavour to the meal.
With Curd Rice
The coolness of curd rice creates a perfect balance with the heat and spice of Fish Pickle. A small dab of pickle on the side of a plate of curd rice is a familiar, comforting combination enjoyed in many Tamil households.
With Idli or Dosa
Seafood pickles can be used as a flavourful side for your morning or evening tiffin. Both idli and dosa pair well with our seafood pickle range. Use it sparingly as a dip or accompaniment alongside your usual chutney or sambar.
With Chapati
For a quick and simple meal, you can serve Maasi Thokku or any of our seafood pickles with hot chapati. The thick, spiced gravy base of the pickle complements the flatbread well.
Dry Fish Pickle with Kanji
Dry Fish Pickle (Karuvadu Oorugai) has a robust, concentrated flavour that makes it an excellent side for simple rice kanji (porridge). Since dry fish naturally has a higher salt content, it balances perfectly with the mild, plain taste of the kanji.
